Selection Criteria
The athlete must meet the basic criteria in order to participate in a Deaf Sports event.
To be considered for selection, an athlete must :
- Meet the qualifying standards (at any IAAF or Athletics Canada sanctioned event) as linked below under section of the international event.
- Be a top-three qualifier of an event.
- Be able to cover the cost associated with participation in World Championships.
2012 Panamerican Games for the Deaf
This event will take place in Santos, SP, Brazil in June 12-24, 2012. To be selected, the athlete must achieve the qualification standards between January 1, 2010 to May 1, 2012.
The athlete must participate at a Selection Camp in Ottawa, April or May 2012.
2012 World Deaf Athletics Championships
This event will take place in Toronto, Canada in July 19-21, 2012. To be officially selected, the athlete must achieve the qualification standards between January 1, 2012 to May 1, 2012.
2013 Summer Deaflympics
This event will take place in Athens, Greece in the Summer 2013. To be officially selected, the athlete must achieve the qualification standards between January 1st, 2012 to January 1st, 2013.
