Selection Criteria
The athlete must meet the basic criteria in order to participate in a Deaf Sports event.
To be considered for selection, a swimmer must :
- Meet the long course (50m) qualifying times (at any FINA or Swimming Canada sanctioned swim meet) as posted below under section of the international event.
- Be a top-three qualifier of an event.
- Be able to cover the cost associated with participation in World Championships.
Selection of Relay(s) :
Only swimmers will be considered in relation to the needs of the relay(s) and the overall needs of Team Canada. Meeting the relay performance requirements does not guarantee individual selection.
World Deaf Swimming Championships
This event will take place in Coïmbra, Portugal in August 2011. To be selected, the swimmer must achieve the qualification times between July 1, 2009 and July 1, 2011.
2013 Summer Deaflympics
This event will take place in Athens, Greece, during the summer of 2013. To be selected, the swimmer must achieve the qualification times between July 1, 2011 and July 1, 2013.
